Can't wait for spring

Back at it
I know it has been months, but there are many things that are going on! The most exciting, i am an auntie again. Mason Elizabeth was born on January 9 at 930 am MST. She was 8 pounds and very healthy. I can not wait to see her.
On another note i have become an activist to try an save my university education and the college that i am currently enrolled in. The Anthropology department at the University of Saskatchewan has encountered some difficulties in obtaining faculty largely due to the ignorance of the administration and their failure to acknowledge that human studies is a vital component of any university. However, our Dean of Arts and Science can be quoted as knowing only this about anthropology "it is bones and stones, sticks and stuff"- does this not just shout out ignorance! To top it all off she is not interested in learning what it is we as anthropologists do, she is comfortable enough just thinking that Sociology will do. We have also been told that we are not marketable enough, and that is why our program can no longer be sustained. All the students are outraged! Why do the administration believe that they can and will be the Harvard of Canada? This will not serve the purpose of the Saskatchewan residents. It is really disgusting to think that my increasing levels of tuition are being spent on these endeavors as well as sustaining projects such as the Canadian Light Source.
