Minority Complex

Well I am getting my wish, I wanted to feel what it is like to be a minority, well it sucks and it is very hard. I make little children run away like they have seen a monster. I wasn't even wearing my blue eye shadow; which my students have informed me "teacher, you look scary!". Being white is still a novelty to many, but I hate all the staring just the same. Thankfully I have yet to be propositioned for sex (Russian Prostitute). I will take comfort in that.

Korea has that effect on people. The staring never stops...ever. I have lived in my neighborhood for 4 years. Same area, same restaurants, same travel routes, same shopping.

People still stare at me, snicker if I respond to one of their many "hello's" and talk about me in Korean....some of which I can now understand.

Either you grow to ignore it, accept it, love it...or as happens to some people...hate it.

I fall into all categories, depending on my mood and who is staring at me. I REALLY hate when old men stare at me/my wife when we are together.

I think it's important to stare back when someone stares at you. This seems to work on everyone except for extremely old men...who in my case, continue to stare back at me until the contact is broken off by one of our wives.
